Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I wanted to share with all of you some fun facts about this special day. Let's see just how many of these that you already know: 1. The first Thanksgiving celebration lasted 3 days.
2. Lobster, rabbit, hickory nuts, leeks, goat cheese and dried fruits are just some of the foods thought to have made up the first Thanksgiving feast.
3. The annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade tradition began in the 1920's.
4. In the US, about 280 million turkeys are sold for Thanksgiving celebrations.
5. The average weight of a turkey bought at Thanksgiving is 15 pounds.
6. Turkeys will have 3,500 feathers at maturity.
7. Male turkeys gobble, hens do not.
8. About 20% of all cranberries that are consumed in the US per year are eaten at Thanksgiving.
9. 50% of Americans put the stuffing inside the turkey.
10. More than 40 million green bean casseroles are served on Thanksgiving.
