To be honest ... I'm not a Halloween fan.  I think it may have something to do with the fact that I broke my nose on Halloween when I was five years old.  Falling down the stairs wearing my costume we'd made in Kindergarten class.  'Cause I couldn't see the steps over the top of the costume.  'Cause the costume was made out a big cardboard box. 

Yep, missed the top step.  Tumbled down the flight of stairs.  Smashed my face into the door at the bottom on the landing.  Ouch.  Spent the evening in the emergency room.  (Oh, have I mentioned that my Mom calls me Miss Grace?  Mmmm, hmmm ... for my utter and complete lack of it.)

Ever since then, hmmmmm, I just haven't loved Halloween.

But as you know, I'm a 1st grade teacher.  And the kids looooooovvvvvvve Halloween.  Like, some of them love it almost as much as they love Christmas.  So ...  I feel compelled to engage in the Halloween spirit at least a teeny bit for the kids' sake.

Enter these super easy Tootsie Pop ghosts.

I usually make these for my students each year as a little treat on Halloween day.  Sometimes we make them together as a project in class, and sometimes I just whip them up at home and give the ghosts to my students at the end of the day.  They think they are so cool!  You gotta love 1st graders ... they truly are so easy to please!

Want to see just how super easy these ghosts are?  Okay.  Here we go!

 Here's what you need: ... Tootsie Pops, white yarn, a black marker, and white paper towels.  That's it.


Tear off a paper towel ... I've found the select-a-size type work really well 'cause you don't really need a full paper towel, it's more like half a paper towel.  Wrap the paper towel around a Tootsie Pop, and place a piece of yarn under the wrapped Tootsie Pop, right under the 'Pop' part.


Tie the yarn in a bow and trim the 'tails' to your liking.


Then draw a little ghost face with the black marker.  That's it.  You're done!


I told you they were super easy. 

A few gathered together in a drinking glass or small vase make for really cute table decorations.  It's a little ghost bouquet!

So, if you're looking for a super easy Halloween treat or favor, here's one quick idea for you.

Now, just be careful in your costume!!  The emergency room on Halloween is not a fun place to be.  Trust me on that one.  Okay?
